CPSC introduction
CPSC(Consumer Product Safety Committee)
The CPSC was established in 1972. Its responsibility is to protect the interests of consumers and protect personal and family safety by reducing the risk of injury and death of consumer goods. The main menu of CPSC is: to establish self regulatory standards for producers, and to formulate mandatory standards or prohibitions for consumer goods without standards to follow. Conduct inspection on products with potential hazards, and feed back opinions to consumers through various channels, including media, state, local governments, and individual organizations. CPSC governs 15000 kinds of consumer goods for families, sports, entertainment and schools under the five acts of the consumer goods safety act, the federal dangerous goods act, the combustible consumer goods act, the packaging and anti poison act, and the refrigerator Safety Act. However, vehicles, tires, ships, weapons, alcohol, tobacco, food, drugs, cosmetics, insecticides and medical devices and other products are not under its jurisdiction. With the efforts of CPSC, the casualty rate caused by consumer goods has decreased by 30% in the past 30 years. CPSC checks a certain number of products in the market every year, especially children's products, to investigate the injury caused by the use of these products. CPSC also publicizes the complaint telephone number, email address, complaint form submission and other channels for product safety problems, encourages citizens to participate in the supervision of consumer goods sold on the market, and also encourages enterprises to monitor their own products. Once the products with potential harmfulness or safety or environmental protection problems are found, after investigation and confirmation, a "recall" notice will be issued jointly with the manufacturer and distributor to eliminate the potential accident.
